Hi all,
I've been considering reinstalling mirc on this computer so I could go to the fudge.net server, but have never used mirc speech and don't really know what to do to make it work. does mirc speech automatically read irc messages or do you have to open it whenever you log on to mirc? thanks,
wonderwoman

Mirc with speech reads the latest messages to you automatically, and there's no need to download the standard mirc like you use to. All you do is download mirc with speech and instal it. If you happen to miss a message, you can easily review it with the jaws cursor.

what do you do about spelling peoples nicks correctly? what do you all do when someone says something to you, and the channel is too active to use the jaws cursor so you can read their nick letter by letter? the 3 letter and th etab jkey are nice for filling in the nick automatically, but sometimes you even get the 3 letters wrong because a nick isn't always spelled the way jaws pronounces it.another difficulty i have is when someone sends me a pm who isn't in th echannel i'm in, and then you have to spell the whole nick name before it will work. is there a solution to this? I'm only using jaws so don't have any refreshable braille display.

Use something called tab completion, start typing there name and tab, new version of mirc with speech when its released will automatically announce the names, you can also tab into the nicklist which is otherwise hidden so not to annoy when reading channel history.
